Our vision

Our vision is a better healthcare of the future, based on personal and professional patient care. We achieve our vision by developing high-quality, comprehensive treatment for orthopaedic injuries and diseases, which restores hope, freedom of movement, and a pain-free life to patients.

Medicofit physiotherapy vision

The vision of Medicofit private clinic is to create a better healthcare of the future in the field of rehabilitation of orthopaedic diseases and injuries. Our vision is to provide every patient with access to advanced treatment that enables a fast, effective and permanent solution.

We create modern healthcare by constantly introducing innovations and researching advanced methods of non-operative and postoperative physiotherapy.

We are building a better healthcare of the future by pursuing the principles of individualised and actively focused rehabilitation of orthopaedic diseases.

The vision of Medicofit clinic is based on three pillars that ensure a high success of treatment for patients:

  • Transparent medical services
  • Comprehensively planned orthopaedic rehabilitation
  • Physiotherapy specialisation

Transparent medical services

Important steps towards successful treatment of an orthopaedic problem begin with diagnosis. It is crucial that the patient receives correct instructions and information about their disease as soon as possible after the first symptoms appear.

Proper modern diagnosis of orthopaedic conditions must be done in three phases. The first phase is to carry out initial tests: MRI, X-RAY, US, CT.

Access to basic diagnostic testing is quick and timely for most patients. The problem arises with subsequent examination, which includes orthopaedic and physiotherapy diagnostic methods.

In 95% of cases of orthopaedic problems, non-operative treatment will be indicated for the patient, for which basic examinations are not sufficient, as a comprehensive clinical examination of the patient with functional measurements is required for proper planning of physiotherapy.

Relying solely on prior referrals and basic examinations means that the patient will be receiving general physiotherapy, which does not include specialised treatment for their condition.

General physiotherapy is at best effective for a short period of time, but risky and misleading in the case of complex conditions, as certain conditions can be successfully treated only with advanced technology that is not available in general physiotherapy.

At Medicofit clinic, we build transparent healthcare with diagnostic therapy. This represents an entry service for every patient who will undergo comprehensive treatment of an injury or disease in our clinic. As part of diagnostic therapy, we present the patient with a model of specialist physiotherapy for their condition, correct and verified information about treatment procedures and the cause of the problem, long-term risks and appropriate preventive measures to eliminate the risks.

Comprehensively planned orthopaedic rehabilitation

An important modern principle of quality orthopaedic physiotherapy is the comprehensive treatment of injuries and diseases.

Most physiotherapies still follow a short prescribed regimen, which includes five to eight sessions. This is an intensive acute therapy aimed at restoring an asymptomatic state.

In truth, this is an extremely general and isolated treatment of pain, without understanding that every orthopaedic disease is accompanied by numerous pathological parameters, muscle-tendon functions, biomechanical changes and inflammatory causes.

The phenomenon of limited symptomatic treatment is called “quick physiotherapy”, which is characteristic mainly for regions where physiotherapy has mainly developed from the guidelines of public healthcare networks.

Although comprehensively oriented rehabilitation aimed at restoring function seems self-evident, the conditions are rarely met in clinical practice.

Phases of rehabilitation

Full function and adequate kinesiotherapy cannot be achieved in short periods of time, so comprehensive treatment often includes at least 20 therapy sessions and is divided into an acute and post-acute phase, with a precisely prescribed weekly regimen of therapies.

The first phase is performed as outpatient physiotherapy and the second by kinesiology.

At Medicofit clinic, we strictly pursue the principle of comprehensive rehabilitation of every disease or injury, as the primary goal is to restore the patient’s full motor function.

The prerequisite for this is the successful completion of specialised load testing and the restoration of load-bearing capacity, full joint amplitudes, and preventive strength to the rehabilitated area.

Physiotherapy specialisation

Within the field of physiotherapy, there is a so-called “empty window” where there are no appropriate specialised therapy procedures and appropriate orthopaedic knowledge for patients, as these are diseases that do not have surgical solutions or surgery is not envisaged.

Typical conditions where physiotherapy specialisation is absolutely necessary and general physiotherapy is not effective are the following:

  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Heel spur
  • Shoulder calcification
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Carpal tunnel
  • Hip and knee wear
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Knee arthrosis
  • Baker’s cyst
  • Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS)
  • Osgood-Schlatter syndrome
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Knee arthritis
  • Synovitis of the hip and knee
  • Sciatica
  • Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)
  • Subacromial bursitis
  • Jumper’s knee (patellar tendinopathy)
  • Tendinitis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Finger injuries: skier’s thumb, trigger finger, jersey finger
  • De Quervain’s disease (tenosynovitis)
  • Hip bursitis
  • Herniated disc
  • Achilles tendinitis

A demanding field of physiotherapy specialisation is postoperative conditions, where we must plan gradual rehabilitation of the patient’s function after the acute phase.

Many surgical conditions are treated too late with general physiotherapy, and the level of restored function is only partial or insufficient for safe movement and participation in sports.

Typical postoperative conditions that require precise specialisation of physiotherapy and treatment plan after surgery are:

  • Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture
  • Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) rupture
  • Meniscus rupture (suture, removal of section)
  • Lateral knee ligament rupture (LCL, MCL)
  • Knee arthroscopy
  • Cartilage regeneration treatment: stem cells, microfracture
  • Cartilage surgery: stem cells
  • Hip replacement (hip TEP)
  • Knee replacement (knee TEP)
  • Spinal stenosis surgery
  • Achilles tendon rupture
  • Ankle arthrodesis
  • Shoulder arthroscopy: tenotomy and tenodesis
  • Shoulder dislocation: shoulder stabilisation surgery
  • Spine surgery: laminectomy, microdiscectomy, spondylodesis
  • Ankle arthroscopy
  • Carpal tunnel surgery
  • Cervical spine surgery
  • SLAP lesion
  • Hallux valgus
  • Patellar dislocation
  • Tibia fracture, surgical treatment

A very demanding field from a professional perspective are orthopaedic conditions with so-called borderline indications for surgical treatment and orthopaedic conditions that are the result of systemic diseases, progressive chronic diseases, or hereditary diseases.

In these cases, there is often a lack of awareness about proper rehabilitation with too narrowly focused pharmacological or exclusively passive therapy.

With the correct specialisation of physiotherapy, conditions can be treated or controlled very successfully.

Typical conditions are:

  • Gout
  • Metatarsalgia
  • ACL and PCL distension
  • Cubital tunnel syndrome
  • Sever’s disease
  • Hip impingement syndrome
  • Shoulder impingement syndrome
  • Radiculopathy
  • Enthesopathy
  • Supraspinatus tendon rupture
  • Morton’s neuroma
  • Reactive arthritis (Reiter’s syndrome)
  • Psoriatic arthritis
  • Ankylosing spondylitis
  • Myopathy
  • Osteoporosis
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Wrist arthritis
  • Chondromalacia
  • Osteochondrosis
  • Femoropatellar arthrosis
  • Patellar instability
  • Facet joint arthropathy
  • Juvenile idiopathic arthritis
  • Still’s disease
  • Flatfoot
  • Charcot arthropathy
  • Baxter’s neuropathy
  • Polyarthritis
  • Hoffa’s fat pad syndrome
  • Pseudogout
  • Haglund’s heel
  • Neuropathic pain
  • Polyneuropathy
  • Rhizarthrosis

You can read more about each condition on our blog.
